The Board of the Meaford Culture Foundation consists of up to nine volunteer Directors.
We also have committees of volunteers who assist individual Directors to manage their portfolio. Working with the Foundation is an empowering way to contribute to the Meaford community through arts and culture.
Rod MacAlpine (Chair) is a well-known retired real estate agent in Meaford. He is a past-President of the Meaford and District Chamber of Commerce, and a past Director of the Canadian Ski Patrol System. Before moving permanently to Meaford, he was in the Canadian Army, and was the Commanding Officer of the Central Area Land Forces Training Base.
Ted Brown (Vice Chair and Chair of MIFF) joined the Foundation in 2005 and brings 50 years of experience in building construction & trade show project management. He is involved with two companies, one for specialty construction project management and the other a manufacturer of Trade Show booths, special signage and graphic applications. He is a past-President of the Meaford Curling Club. Ted has masterminded many fundraisers in the Municipality.
Joanne McKenzie (Director, Community Outreach & Artistic Director of MIFF) joined the board in 2013, her love of arts, culture and music is a perfect fit for the Foundation. Since moving to Meaford she’s been involved with Meaford Community Theatre and the Reef Boat Club. Joanne worked for 30 years in the steel industry.
Lesley Kenyon (Secretary Treasurer) joined the board in 2015 to administer the Friends Program fundraiser, which has since been discontinued. In 2017 she became the Secretary/Treasurer. Many of you may recognize Lesley from her volunteer work in the community with the Meaford Curling Club, Meaford Hospital Auxiliary,Meaford Scarecrow Invasion and the Kazoo Band.
Joan Brown (Art Director) joined the board in 2016 after working with the Foundation since 2006. She is managing the Foundation & MIFF websites, online auctions, corporate images and promotional material. She has 35 years of experience in graphic design and illustration.
Deborah Ise (Director and Chair of Live Theatre) Deborah has a diverse 30-year finance career with Canadian financial institutions and non-bank financial firms, specializing in risk management and structured finance. She was also Vice-President of a Toronto investment management firm and Managing Director of its financing division. Most recently, in retirement, she spent 2 years to help establish Events for Life Centre Inc., a charity serving the needs of the developmentally-delayed in the community. She has been a ski instructor with Special Olympics since 2014.
Susan Greenham (Director, Theming) became a Director on the Board in 2013. She has more than 30 years experience working with the York Catholic District School Board, 7 years working with the Metropolitan Toronto Police Department and has volunteered extensively with various youth groups.
Dan White (Director) is a newly retired financial advisor of 7 years and prior to that worked in manufacturing for 38 years in various positions including Production Manager, Quality Manager and Process Improvement Manager. He is currently the President of the Meaford Kinsmen, member of the Meaford chapter of Community Foundation Grey Bruce (previously a board member) and Past President of the Meaford Chamber of Commerce.
Robert Uhrig (Director) has over 30 years of professional marketing and senior management experience in the material handling industry in Toronto. Also a published songwriter and former Administrative Director of the Grey Bruce Arts Council, he is a lover, participant and strong supporter of the arts. Raised in Meaford, he is happy to have recently had the opportunity to return to the area as the Sales & Marketing Manager for Bruce Street Technologies Limited.
