Previous MIFF Films are Making News

While preparations are well underway for the 10th Anniversary of the Meaford International Film Festival (Sept 1-4), previous MIFF films are making news.

SPEED SISTERS which closed MIFF last year in a special preview screening has picked up a couple of awards and recently opened in Canada. Director Amber Fares, who joined us live via Skype  appeared on CBC Radio’s “Q”.  You can hear her interview here.

Meanwhile the subject of MIFF’s 2014 feature documentary IN SEARCH OF VIVIAN MAIER, is now the focus of a brand new law suit and a new biography.

Finally, Ciro Guerra the director of  THE WIND JOURNEYS (MIFF 2010), who talked about his film live from Columbia with the MIFF audience, has now won 16 awards including a prestigious prize at Cannes with his new venture, EMBRACE OF THE SERPENT. It’s on the MIFF short list for this year, will it make the final cut?
